Ten pence starter rate in income tax abolished, two pence off corporation tax. Corporation tax and most taxes on profits have been repeatedly cut by this government, so this latest is nothing new. Brown boasts that it will make the UK's corporation tax "lower than America, Germany, France, Japan, and all of our other major competitors". Inheritance tax has also been given an effective cut by raising the threshold to £350,000. Apart from that, no sign yet of the cuts to single mother benefits that they were floating a while ago, and no mention as far as I can see of his declared plan to remove a huge range of treatments from free NHS care (ie, privatise them).
